Part Time Veterinary Surgeon Job – Gateshead

Total salary package up to £60,000 DOE pro rata

Make a real difference and save lives with Sunday and bank holiday shifts only

Working part time offers a solution that overcomes the usual challenges of being an out-of-hours vet surgeon. Our part time vets can balance a career with caring for a family, working around another job or studying for an emergency and critical care certification. We are looking for a registered veterinary surgeon to relish the diverse caseload that ECC naturally brings over approximately 20 hours a month (finishing time no later than 12am). Flexibility is key with this role and we will work weekend frequency around the ideal candidate.

Supportive team and network

Gateshead is a busy clinic and this role presents an ideal opportunity for someone looking to step into an ECC career knowing they will have the support of another vet working alongside them (not sole charge). Our ideal candidate will have a desire to support the local Vets Now team, and would be interested in supporting our sister clinic at Middlesbrough. Although this is not an essential requirement, we envisage it will provide the successful applicant with a much broader scope to work in different clinical environments, as well as gaining the opportunity for a more flexible rota pattern, and additional hours of work if required.  Greater flexibility between these two clinics will naturally be reflected in your remuneration package.

Great place to work

Recognising hard work is really important to us. Our employees are our greatest asset which is why we offer a first class benefits and rewards package that could include 6.6 weeks annual leave, pension contributions, professional membership, free holiday accommodation in Arran, 50% discounted staff pet care, death in service of two times annual salary, membership of employee wellbeing programme, company sick pay scheme, company maternity, paternity and adoption pay scheme and your birthday as a day off. As well as providing a competitive package of rewards and benefits, we also take pride in celebrating our successes. This includes hosting an annual awards ceremony for those who have exceeded expectations. Clinical staff are also encouraged to attend our annual ECC Congress, the largest in the UK, which features an array of internationally accredited speakers, delegates and exhibitors.

Diverse and unique caseload

Working as an emergency Veterinary Surgeon will expose you to a diverse range of cases that you simply won’t see in general practice. Based within a PDSA practice, this job would be ideal for a vet who thrives in an adrenaline-fuelled emergency environment and strives to achieve high quality patient care, excellent client care and team work mentality. We are looking for an experienced Vet Surgeon who has a serious interest in ECC and would like to develop their skills in an encouraging and positive environment, with the support of an experienced mentor.
