Vets Now is the UK’s leading provider of emergency and out-of-hours care for pets. We operate from 55 clinics across the UK and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon. At Vets Now, we aim to give people and their pets the care and support they deserve at the time the need it most, and every year our emergency vets and vet nurses treat more than 120,000 pets. Together we save pets’ lives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a content marketing executive to support the content marketing manager in implementing our digital content strategy. One of the main responsibilities of this role will be to produce content across multiple platforms and formats, using words, photography, video, graphics and audio.

The content marketing executive will be based at the Vets Now support office situated between Edinburgh and Dunfermline, Fife, and will be expected to work across our three audience sectors — direct to consumer, vet professional and employer brand.

Your areas of responsibility

  • You will be responsible for the regular creation of engaging, visually appealing, consistent, and clean content on Vets Now’s websites

  • You will understand the needs of our audiences to create user-focused content

  • You will use your talent to spot opportunities for great content on our sites, quickly and accurately turning round production and liaising closely with customers, stakeholders and clinical experts

  • You will help manage the editorial calendar and organisation workflows

  • You will compile analysis reports to help guide future content marketing efforts

  • You will deputise for the content marketing manager on occasion and be a vocal advocate for the importance of unique and quality content in supporting business objectives

Your skills and experience

We are, ideally, looking for a content marketing executive who is able to demonstrate they have:

  • The mindset of a brand publisher and journalist —  you can spot and create the content our audiences are looking for and then optimise the path to conversion

  • Experience in content marketing or digital journalism and a developed news sense

  • Excellent news and feature writing skills, including a solid understanding of story structures

  • Experience shooting and editing video, preferably on Adobe Premiere Pro

  • First class editing and proofreading skills

  • Top-notch interview techniques and the ability to put interviewees at ease

  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude

  • High attention to detail with exceptional spelling, punctuation and grammar

  • Ability to plan, manage and produce high quality, premium content projects and a methodical approach to this work

  • Ability to build collaborative, productive and positive relationships with stakeholders to enable clinical staff to initiate content themselves

  • Solid understanding of website calls to action and copywriting to support conversions and online customer acquisition and retention

  • Basic understanding of the digital marketing mix, including SEO experience for optimising website landing pages, pay per click, email marketing and social media marketing

  • Ability to interpret data and trends in Google analytics

  • Working knowledge of content management (CMS) platforms such as WordPress

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

What you can expect

This is a full-time position for 37.5 hours a week that sits within the award-nominated marketing team at Vets Now. The role would ideally suit someone educated to degree level in marketing, journalism or a similar subject, with at least two years’ experience in content marketing or digital journalism.

The successful candidate will gain enviable exposure to the full marketing mix, will have the opportunity to work with some of Scotland’s best agencies, and will work alongside a highly experienced journalist and a wider team of talented in-house marketing experts.

The job holder will earn £21,000 - £28,000 a year, depending on experience, and receive a generous package, including 30 days annual holiday (inclusive of public holidays) and a contributory pension. Vets Now is a dog-friendly employer that welcomes dogs in the office – there is a dog policy.
